Transformational Candidate

from SKETCHES By Ana Marie Pamintuan

We are pinning so much hope for change on the elections next year. But how much different can the next president be without corresponding changes in the political system and our culture?

This question is cropping up more often as May 2010 approaches and Filipinos ask whether there is a genuine “transformational candidate” who can deliver us, if not from evil and into the Promised Land, at least onto the path of lasting reforms.

Cynics point out that any president who wins on a platform of change will eventually be devoured by the system — by long-entrenched business, political and even religious power blocs that have benefited from the status quo for several generations.

These power blocs will support the presidential candidate who seems the most likely, if he or she wins, to deliver on a promise to protect their vested interests. These interests include business monopolies and tax perks, and in the case of the Catholic Church, policies that uphold Vatican teachings on controversial issues such as contraception and divorce.

When the next president gets down to the task of governing a seemingly ungovernable people, he or she will have to work with all these entrenched interests, from political dynasties to the old moneyed elite that controls much of the country’s wealth.

Even Corazon Aquino, filled with good intentions, could not withstand pressure from all the landowners in the post-EDSA Congress, including her own relatives. The agrarian reform program that she finally signed into law was riddled with loopholes favoring landowners. But she preserved democracy in a perilous transition and that is her enduring legacy.

The closest to a modern reformist president that we’ve had, post-EDSA, was Fidel Ramos, who opened up the economy and tried to break up long-entrenched monopolies, although he also had his own clique of businessmen and was not entirely free of controversy. Vested interests hit back by supporting the campaign to stop the first Charter change initiative, which would have allowed Ramos to seek a second term.

* * *

Ferdinand Marcos, who was no member of the old rich, used absolute power to break up the oligarchy.
But eventually he created his own cabal of immensely wealthy and privileged cronies, many of whom are still very much around, cronies of a new dispensation, now wealthier and more privileged.

Many of the old oligarchs have also managed to bounce back, battling with cronies old and new for control of the most lucrative businesses. When new laws or rules manage to squeak through and monopolies are threatened, those affected shift to other sectors where political connections will still guarantee them the absence of a level playing field.

Is there a candidate who can fight this system? The best that the next president can hope for is to work within the system, and fight to prevent the system from swallowing him up.

As the scandals in the Arroyo administration piled up, there were debates on whether the President made an effort to fight the system, or whether she freely allowed herself to become locked in its embrace, finding comfort in a cocoon of corruption. People who worked with her in those early years swear that she truly tried to become a “good” if not great President, and to abide by her late father’s admonition to do right, do her best and let God take care of the rest. Somewhere along the way she lost her moorings. Those people who were with her in the early years note that the start appeared to have coincided with the death of her mother.

Dictatorship failed to break up the system. Immense popularity could have worked, but Joseph Estrada – a non-traditional politician who did not belong to the oligarchy — squandered his chance at greatness. His botched performance also taught Filipinos a powerful lesson on the downside of marrying entertainment with politics.

* * *

Filipinos tend to blame Spain and the Church for the hold of the oligarchy and the development of a culture of entitlement and corruption.

In several other former Spanish colonies as well as in China and Russia, communist revolutions destroyed oligarchies and all other family-based systems of power and wealth.

The attempt at a similar revolution in the Philippines failed, with a lot of help from Uncle Sam. We were spared the painful, bloody upheavals that those countries underwent. But now we’re stuck with the same system, and wondering if the next president will make a difference.

A clue to the promise of change held by a presidential candidate is the party. Lakas and KAMPI are still seen as the parties of the traditional politicians, masters of the art of the deal.

The Nationalist People’s Coalition is expected to institutionalize cronyism, regardless of how young its standard bearer might be.

UNO is seen as the party of Erap and everything that he stands for. Its members don’t think that’s a disadvantage.

The Nacionalistas have a great rags-to-riches story in its standard-bearer, and the latest surveys show that he has survived last year’s double-entry scandal. But Sen. Manny Villar married into an old political clan and has vast business interests.

The Liberal Party stands for change and has the standard bearer that seems most attuned to the demands of globalization. But even his handlers acknowledge that the biggest baggage of “Mr. Palengke” Mar Roxas is that his family owns the palengke. He belongs to the oligarchy.

Where is our transformational president? We may have to settle for a lesser evil, a compromise — in this case, anyone who is not allied with the incumbent.

Fil-Ams urged to make an 'impact' for RP

Filipino-American migrants have been urged to take a proactive role in leading their compatriots in nation-building.

"The key in making a significant difference and impact can be summed up in three simple words: awareness, attention, and action," said Bro. Eddie Villanueva, chairman of Bangon Pilipinas Party and Spiritual Director of the Jesus Is Lord Worldwide Church.

Villanueva told the Filipino-

American community, business, and religious leaders in Los Angeles, California not to lose hope in the development of the Philippines.

"As migrant Filipinos, you have moral and spiritual ascendancy over those in the Philippines; encourage them to be aware of what is truly happening to the nation," Villanueva said in a statement.

"Focus on the things where you can make significant impact like socio-civic projects by reputable NGO's (non-government organizations) and finally act now to empower yourselves both here and in the Philippines, register to vote, and elect leaders who are genuine in their character and deeds. Stop buying into commercials and PR statements. Be involved and be on fire for the fulfillment of God's prophetic destiny for the country," said Villanueva.

Villanueva attended a special dinner and was given the special recognitions and commendations from the City of Los Angeles' Bernard Parks and the California State Legislature and California Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi.

He admitted that while the Philippines has been noted by the international scene as among the worst performing nations in 2008 due to "unbridled graft and corruption," he is still fully convinced that there will be a resurgence of hope this year.

"Indeed, 2009 is the year of awakening and fulfillment. God is about to usher in a changing of the season, and those who have brought shame and suffering to our people by their selfish deeds will have to give account," said Villanueva.

When asked about the effects of the global economic crisis on the Philippines, Villanueva stated, "When you have an economy that has been underperforming for the past 8 years due to the fact that more than 40% of the national budget does not go directly to goods and services but to corrupt politicians, there is no other way to go but up."

Furthermore, he mentioned that the remittances sent to the country by overseas Filipinos serve as a lifeline to the fragile economy.

"When PGMA's economic managers trumpet GDP or GNP data that could not be substantiated by real 'felt' development in the countryside, then you can only conclude that the so-called economic gains are just a facade to cover the realities we are facing today," he said.

“Mayroong kasabihan na ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’ …

I affirm the assessment of Bangon Pilipinas Secretary General Rev. Ronald Tan that it has always been a predictable response of the Arroyo officials to deny truth by pointing to the so-called ‘positive’ achievements of this government. Isn’t it ironic that almost to the exact moment of Dureza’s claims, the prestigious polling body GALLUP INTERNATIONAL came out with the survey that 4 out of 10 Filipinos are hungry or have little food thus making the Philippines the WORLD’S 5th HUNGRIEST NATION. What a stinging rebuke to all these claims of positive accomplishments.”

“It is due to the urgency of the plight of our people who are being crushed under the weight of unbridled graft and systematic corruption that I have expressed my full-support to the statement of CBCP President Archbishop Angel Lagdameo about the need to rid our country of this ‘social cancer’ of corruption. By meeting and joining our hearts and minds toward the achievement of our shared values and goals I have no doubt that God will bless the assembly and its noble goals and aspirations. I enjoin all Filipinos who also believe in our conviction that it is time for righteous governance, to pray for our beloved nation, and let our collective voices be heard loudly to every corridor of Malacanang.”

BRO. EDDIE LAUDS CBCP STAND AGAINST CORRUPTION, PROPOSES NATIONAL SUMMIT

Reacting to the recently declared position of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) headed by Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, seeking radical reforms against Graft and Corruption, Bishop “Bro. Eddie” Villanueva, Spiritual Director of the Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide, Chairman of the Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) and Bangon Pilipinas Party, lauded the courage and fortitude of the CBCP with its timely declaration.

I echo the divinely inspired assessment of the CBCP that corruption in government is a ‘moral and social cancer’ that must not be treated with mere anesthesia or propaganda but must be completely and swiftly eradicated. All the studies and scientific findings by well-respected international bodies point to this one single reality which has made the Philippines amongst the poorest performing economies in Asia. To make matters worse, millions of our people in poverty have become pawns of corrupt politicians and an administration whose central focus in solving the ills of the nation is to attempt to perpetuate itself in power at the expense of the true will of the nation,” Bishop Eddie declared.

Asked to comment on the claim of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Chairman Emeritus Donald Dee that he “reprimanded” Archbishop Lagdameo for the CBCP statement, Bro. Eddie responded: “It amazes me that someone known to be beholden to the Arroyo administration, implicated in the NBN-ZTE scandal cover up, and whose tenure as PCCI head was characterized by a lack of independence from Malacanang, would even have the nerve to make this impudent claim against a respected archbishop. Rather than appearing to be proud of his disrespect, he should repent and seek forgiveness because such pride will most certainly have its consequences. As it is written in Proverbs 16:18: ‘Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.’”

Palace officials have been following a redundant script especially in the light of the recent impeachment complaint filed before Congress. To other issues plaguing the Arroyo Presidency, Bro. Eddie gave an uncompromising admonishment: “The problems of the nation were present well before this global financial crisis. The hopeless attempts of palace officials and even Donald Dee to use the worldwide recession as an excuse for their miserable failure demonstrate their faulty underestimation of the understanding and perception of the Filipino people. The crux of the matter is credibility and good governance. From ‘Hello Garci’, ZTE, Northrail, Fertilizer Scam, and many more issues pointing to rampant corruption – the Filipinos are at their saturation point and know that real reforms that will have lasting results must be radical and intense.”

The gravity of the situation prompted Bro. Eddie to propose a NATIONAL SUMMIT OF RELIGIOUS LEADERS FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE. “I am making personal call to the leaders of the CBCP, Protestant, Evangelical, Muslim and other denominations so that we may sit down and come up with a common position and course of action because the time for apathy and complacency has gone. I believe that once all the facts and the truth are revealed we shall see a nation awakened in its national consciousness and the people will say ‘ENOUGH!’

The Time is Always Right to do the Right Thing

THE TIME IS ALWAYS RIGHT TO DO THE RIGHT THING
by Ptr. Stanley C. Flores

Today, as we make this risky and bold stand, one of the questions would be: Is this the right time to do it?

The Rev. Martin Luther King said 45 years ago that, “The time is always right to do the right thing.”

The same man dreamed that “one day his four little children will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

He expressed this dream in his famous “I have a dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. as thousands of black Americans were racially discriminated at that time.

45 years hence this dream has not only become a reality but to the point that America is poised to have its first African-American president. Indeed nothing is impossible.

But we must ask, “How did it happen?”

And the only standard answer we can find is that someone was willing to lay down his life for his fellow men. That someone was not afraid with the popular opinions, the biased politicians, the threats and the persecution.

He made a stand when others were reluctant and afraid – and I believe none of us in this sacred room is afraid to do so.

I believe none of us here will accept the present evils plaguing the nation for “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.”

History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.

And one of our favorite lines says that, “the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)

We must not be silent neither passive. We must act now. We must work for change.

It is with this underlying statement that we call on our colleagues and people to help us convince our good Bishop Bro. Eddie Villanueva to once again consider and accept the challenge to lead us to the promise land by running as President in the next 2010 Presidential Election.

We have no second option.

This is none negotiable.

It is Bro. Eddie or nothing.

We don’t need to lose by default because we have some fears in us or because we are afraid for him.

For if Bro. Eddie will not run we will even be hurt all the more because of our inaction when we see that there is no change after 2010 whoever becomes the next President.

If America has a MLK, India has a Gandhi, the Philippines surely has Bro. Eddie.

We cannot put our trust to traditional politicians anymore because they have been in power for so many years and yet they have not done anything to eradicate poverty, joblessness, homelessness, corruption, injustice and immorality.

We need to put our trust on moral leaders whose life had not been tainted with any form of immorality and injustice.

So we say, in unity and with our undying love for this country that we call on BRO. EDDIE VILLANUEVA for President in the upcoming 2010 Presidential Elections.

We believe in him. We believe his principles. We believe in his leadership. And we believe that he has the capacity to run the nation to achieve change and transformation.

Join the call for a BRO. EDDIE VILLANUEVA Presidency in 2010!

Martin Luther King also said this, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”

Bro. Eddie Villanueva: The Man, His Message and the Ministry

From a communist-atheist to one of the most powerful preachers of God’s Word in the world today… From a radical activist to the founder-pastor of one of the largest Christ-centered, Bible-based, full-gospel churches in the world… From a battle-scarred street parliamentarian to one of the most respected Christian leaders in the Philippines whose spiritual counsel is sought after by high-ranking officials and distinguished leaders of the nation… From a persecuted “small, country preacher’ to a world-renown radio-TV evangelist, prophet and apostle whose vision and mission is to see the nations of the world evangelized and transformed by the same Gospel that changed his life.

This in a capsule captures the exciting life story of Eddie Villanueva, fondly called Bro. Eddie or Bishop Eddie.

LIFE-CHANGING ENCOUNTER

Bro. Eddie had a life-changing encounter with the Lord in 1973 while at the forefront of a leftist movement fighting against the evils of a vicious system that has perpetuated social injustice and massive deprivation in the country. At that time, he was also leading his family and other families in his home province of Bulacan (an hour away north of Manila) in an uphill, protracted legal battle against a notorious land-grabbing syndicate.

Five days after that dramatic encounter with God, Bro. Eddie was brought face to face with a miracle he could never forget: the land-grabbers were arrested and detained. But a greater miracle took place in Bro. Eddie’s heart: The Holy Spirit “arrested” him. He became a true believer in the reality of a loving and powerful God! He surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and soon after, his wife Dory also gave her life to the Lord.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS OF JIL

Bro. Eddie’s raging passion, fire and zeal for activism soon became a consuming passion for God, fire for the Gospel and zeal for evangelism. Out of the overflow of his spiritual turning point, he began to share Jesus with family members and friends, then in Bible studies and church gatherings. It was evident from the start that God’s special touch was upon this man, who, for years, was deeply immersed in Marxist dialectics, Leninist revolutionary tactics and thoughts of Mao Tse Tung.

As professor of Economics and Finance at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), his Alma Mater (where he now sits as a member of the Board of Regents), he seized every opportunity to proclaim the Gospel to his students, who in turn, responded with much fervor. Their lives were so touched that they urged their professor to teach them more about the Bible.

Thus, the Jesus is Lord Church, popularly called JIL, was born. It was 1978. From a Bible study of 15 PUP students, it has exploded to a phenomenal constituency of over a million. It is considered the biggest in the Philippines today and one of the largest in the world. Today, Bro. Eddie’s ministry is also touching many millions more through his TV, radio, literature, audio-tape and video ministries, the JIL Christian Schools/JIL Colleges Foundation, Inc. and through the JIL worldwide ministries.

Bro. Eddie’s vision is to reach out to all Filipinos with the Gospel wherever they are – in the Philippines or in other countries- and to all nationalities in the four-corners of the earth. To pursue this vision, JIL has established chapters in Europe, US, Canada, Middle East, Northern Africa and neighboring Asian countries, reaching out mostly to expatriate Filipinos. Recently, God instructed Bro. Eddie to launch a massive evangelization campaign aimed at touching the major cities of the world with the transforming power of Jesus.

TRIUMPHS AND TESTINGS

But the triumphs did not come without the concomitant testings. Bro. Eddie and his family have been at the receiving end of violent persecutions both from the enemy’s camp and from religious groups. They have been the object of several assassination attempts, the most horrible of which happened at about midnight on June 17, 1983. The whole family had just come from their church’s Friday night service and Bro. Eddie was about to enter their house in Bulacan when a grenade was thrown his way and exploded a few feet from where he stood into 1200 deadly shrapnel. The house front and part of the roof were shattered but not one shrapnel hit Bro. Eddie. God protected and spared the life of His servant and his family! back to top

TRANSFORMING THE NATIONS

Bro. Eddie’s passion is not just for the evangelization but also the transformation of the Philippines and other nations to become the blessed nations of God declared in Psalm 33:12. In 1984, God gave Bro. Eddie a vision of a “bloody revolution that may come if the churches will not unite to win the country with the Gospel.” That vision gave birth to the Philippines for Jesus Movement or PJM, a broad alliance of churches and ministries with a nationwide constituency of millions. Under the leadership of Bro. Eddie as National Chairman, PJM has been actively engaged in its prophetic ministry to the nation leading mass-based activities and multi- media thrusts designed to transform the nation and establish the lordship of Jesus in all realms of life and society.

Bro. Eddie’s prophetic mandate, that of speaking the heart and mind of God to the nation, was confirmed in November 1986 through a powerful word of prophecy given by Dr. Ralph Mahoney, founder of World MAP, and a world-respected Christian leader-statesman. Through the years that prophetic word has been reaffirmed by other distinguished global Christian leaders such as Dr. Bill Hamon, Dr. Cindy Jacobs, Dr. Peter Wagner, to mention some.

Today, through his two top-rated weekly TV programs (Diyos at Bayan and PJM Forum), God has expanded Bro. Eddie’s reach in pursuing his prophetic role. Also recently, in recognition of such mandate, he has unanimously been chosen to chair God’s People Coalition for Righteousness (GPCR), an aggrupation of concerned Catholics, Muslims and Evangelical Christians, which aims to instill moral values in society and government. back to top

REACHING THE NATIONS BY TELEVISION

Early in their ministry, Bro. Eddie and Sis. Dory recognized the power of mass media in proclaiming the good news of salvation to millions. Thus, in 1982, they stepped out in bold faith, launched JIL’s Multimedia ministry and started the “Jesus the Healer” TV weekly program. The results were amazing: enormous numbers of people were exposed to the Gospel and multitudes came to the Lord and began attending JIL services. Bro. Eddie saw the effectiveness of TV as a medium for reaching whole cities and nations for Jesus!

In 1984, in obedience to a word from God, Bro. Eddie started negotiations for the acquisition of Channel 11, the rights of which were owned by a very committed Christian businessman. It was a quest that took about 14 long years to finish. It will take a whole book to chronicle the staggering yet exciting struggle for Channel 11 – the miraculous Hand of God that was evident all throughout, the surprising turns and twists and the intense spiritual battle. Bro. Eddie knew that if the vision for Channel 11 was from God, ultimately, the victory would be at hand. Finally, on April 12, 1998, Channel 11 was dedicated for the glory of God. Even now, plans are already afoot on how to beam Gospel programs to the whole of Asia.back to top

”SECRETS” OF JIL’S SUCCESS

The phenomenal work of God through Bro. Eddie continues with more colorful chapters being added. Despite the remarkable fruitfulness of his ministry, it seems that God has something even greater for his chosen servant to fulfill. But the question is invariably asked: “What is the secret of this man?” He never had the opportunity to attend a formal Bible school but “why is he effective and why is God blessing his ministry tremendously?”

Bro. Eddie’s standard reply reveals the heart of a real man of God: “it’s all because of God’s amazing grace.” When one takes a hard look at how God has prospered this man and his ministry, indeed, the only conclusion is: “it is only by His sovereign grace.”

For the last 25 years, Bro. Eddie and JIL stand as classic examples of the practical outworking of such grace. If I can distill into some key thoughts (“secrets” if you will) why God has blessed the man and his ministry so enormously (yet in reality it is such that one can’t even begin to grasp) the following immediately grab the mind:

OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S CALL

A valid and God-blessed ministry always begins with a definite Call. The Bible shows us that when God plans to do something in the world, He first looks for someone He can use to fulfill His glorious purpose. He then calls that man, prepares and equips him, imparts His vision and sends him out. Such call gives the Called a sense of destiny, a vision. Unmistakably, this is Bro. Eddie’s experience.

Thus through the years, he persevered to obey God’s call with holy passion, aggressively and fearlessly battling satanic onslaughts against him, his family and unique ministry (which is misunderstood even by some fellow Christian leaders) because just like the men whom God called in the Old and New Testaments, he took hold of God’s vision for him and is fiercely determined to achieve it. Knowing this, Bro. Eddie literally gave up everything (his childhood ambition to become a topnotch lawyer and politician, a successful businessman, even his resources, etc.) and committed himself unreservedly to obey God. He exemplifies to all JIL people what total commitment is all about. back to top

INTEGRITY and FIDELITY IN HIS PERSONAL AND FAMILY LIFE

Bro. Eddie models a leader who practices what he preaches. He demonstrates a contagious passion for God and a reverential fear of Him which have kept his personal/family life and ministry above reproach for 25 years, untainted by any hint of misdemeanor. God by His grace has indeed protected and preserved him from anything that would disgrace His name. This is not to say that the man had not suffered shortcomings or made honest mistakes which all ministers of the Gospel commit at times, despite their dedication to keep their integrity of heart. Bro. Eddie realizes that successful ministry is just the natural outflow of a life of integrity and fidelity in every arena of life, so he has purposed in his heart to be an example.

Despite the bigness of his ministry, he always exudes genuine humility and servanthood. He is always careful to give glory to God for all the “successes” of JIL. Yet, he is always on a learning posture. He never fails to consult regularly fellow leaders and elders in the Body.

Bro. Eddie learned early on that his family is top priority. He knows that his family validates his ministry and that without the witness of a strong family, really, he has no message to the world. He models a loving and faithful husband and a real father. Sis. Dory is a true, dedicated and excellent helpmeet always alongside her husband. As partners in ministry, they are truly twin towers of strength.

Their prayerful guidance, has helped propel their children into divine placements where they are now enjoying significant success and impact: Jonjon is presently the Mayor of their hometown, Bocaue, in Bulacan and is one of the youngest mayors in the Philippines today; Joel Emmanuel, a Harvard graduate, was elected to the House of Representatives in 2001 and is the youngest (and certainly one of the brightest) Congressman in the country (he is called the Benjamin of Congress); Joni is not only a top-rated gospel singer/artist but also an able administrator. She is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Zoe TV – Channel 11. Jovi, the youngest is a brilliant and amiable junior at the country’s premier university for teachers and is deeply passionate for ministry. back to top

FAITH to BELIEVE for the IMPOSSIBLE

As mentioned earlier, Bro. Eddie didn’t have the opportunity to attend formal schooling in a Bible school, but as a young Christian and on to the early days of his ministry, he literally “devoured” books and tapes of ministry “greats” – successful healing evangelists and pastors such as Morris Cerullo, T.L. Osborn, Oral Roberts, Ralph Mahoney, Kenneth Hagin, to name some. These men plus the inputs of other local ministers helped shape the focus and thrust of Bro. Eddie’s preaching and ministry – that of walking in the realm of the miraculous, healing, faith, signs and wonders ministry. He was reared not just to believe in miracles but to rely on them; to see the invisible and believe God for the impossible!

Thus, in JIL, the ministry of healing, miracles, signs and wonders are not just indispensable distinctives but common occurences.

Also, from the start, Bro. Eddie believed in the bigness of God and His power and grace to make JIL not just big but the biggest church– to give God the maximum glory! This reminds one of God’s promises to Abraham that his descendants will be as innumerable as the stars in heaven (Genesis 15: 5), dust of the earth (Gen. 13:16), sand on the seashore (Gen. 22:17). It is no big surprise then that JIL is big today (and counting!) and has been catapulted into such an enormous body underpinning Bro. Eddie’s prophetic voice.

In fact (to inject a personal note here), at the rate God has been enlarging JIL, I envision it to become one of the 10 - 15 largest churches in the world with healthy, reproducing chapters all over the Philippines and in major cities of the globe led by cutting-edge leaders, having millions of discipled members who are reaching out to millions more through JIL’s Multi-ministries. I could see JIL exercising its apostolic and prophetic mandate to the Body of Christ and to the nations and will be recognized more and more as a powerful transformational force (that no government can afford to ignore) in shaping the destiny of the Philippines and other countries until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. back to top

MULTIPLICATION OF LEADERS

Bro. Eddie knew from the beginning that he can’t fulfill God’s mandate alone, so he focused on training and equipping able and faithful leaders. He adheres to the wise adage that there’s no real success until you have prepared your successors. JIL has grown phenomenally as it is today because it has teachable and loyal leaders who caught and run with the vision and pursued with discipline and zeal JIL’s priorities of evangelism and transformation. The JIL International Bible College which was established as a formal school in 2001 is dedicated to train more leaders for the end-time harvest. back to top

VISION FOR THE WORLD

Bro. Eddie’s heartbeat is not just the Philippines but the whole world. He takes God’s command literally and seriously to “Go and preach the gospel to all creation… “ (Mark 16:15ff); “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matt. 28:18-20)

His passion is to give each one in this world the opportunity to hear the Gospel and say yes to Jesus. To fulfill this, JIL has expanded to the continents of the world – reaching out to Filipinos first who will then be God’s bridges to other nations and cultures: JIL Hong Kong will reach out to China with its billion plus people; JIL European chapters will reach out to the French, Spanish, Italians, British, Dutch, Germans, and other Europeans; JIL North America will reach out to the Americans, Canadians and Hispanics and so on.
Bro. Eddie and JIL will faithfully proclaim “the Gospel of the kingdom as a testimony to all nations” until the end will come.

God. Country. Change. Transformation. Patriotism. Righteousness.

We, ordinary Filipinos who are concerned by the current state of our country wherein almost 80% of the population are suffering from poverty.

Corruption in the government is overwhelming and government officials enrich themsleves with the people's money, while the people themselves cannot even eat three square meals a day. Without decent homes and jobs. Children whom Rizal referred to as the hope of the nation cannot even attain proper education and does not have the security to finish college and land to good jobs because of economic bankruptcy in the country.

We believe that the Philippines is so rich as far as human and natural resources is concerned, but this resources are not being put to good use and have been victims of exploitation for so many years already.

This is why we believe that we need to put GOD back in the political arena.

We believe that morality or righteousness should be established in the Philippine government.

We believe that good and principled people should lead the government to achieve change and transformation.
